Evid Dead II

Review: Your probably asking what the hell is this movie doing
on my top 100 movie list. Well...um...let me try and defend it.
Curiously, I'm not alone in liking this film, for those that don't
know, Sam Raimi's (Simple Plan) Evil Dead II has become a cult
favorite among many people, particularly college students. The
violence in Evil Dead II is extreme in both its gruesome detail
and its sheer volume. Heads are knocked off with shovels, hands
are sawed off with chainsaws, headless corpses run around, yet...all
of it is filmed in a cartoon-like manner which creates a surreal
quality. The whole film is an assault on the senses that it also
very, very funny. Bruce Campbell (Ash) is an incredible physical
actor and really doesn't need any dialogue to be engrossing. Try
to image this guy back in the silent film era. Raimi, who like
myself is a Michigan State graduate, gives a nod to State early
in the film when Ash's girlfriend is wearing a MSU T-shirt. With
bizarre camera angles and twisted humor this truly is an outrageous
and daring film and ranks as one of my favorite horror films (others
being: The Shining, Psycho, Silence of the Lambs, and Seven). -Review
