Godfather II

Review: After receiving six Academy Awards, and again winning
Best Picture (this time Best Director for Coppola (Apocalypse Now)),
the second Godfather has been rightfully hailed as the best sequel
of all time. The Godfather series is excellent film-making and
I suppose the ultimate gangster story. I've got to admit, (I know
I will catch a lot of shit for this) that although these films
are very good, the masses have heralded them as being far better
than they are (similar to most peoples obsession with Star Wars).
In many ways the characters in these mafia films and television
shows are despicable, but white America has a fascination with
these so called "cool" thugs, and over the years I have
become sort of disgusted with it. Now that my rant is over let
me point out that the acting here is superb. Robert De Niro (Deer
Hunter, Raging Bull, Taxi Driver, and Awakenings) and Al Pacino
(Carlito's Way, Scent of a Woman, Scarface) lead this exceptional
cast. -Review by Aaron Caldwell
