Scarface

Review: Scarface, a remake of the 1932 film of the same name,
is a very gripping story of how power and violence lead to corruption.
Al Pacino (Carlito's Way, Scent of a Woman, Godfather II), as Tony
Montana, provides a brilliant performance as a Cuban refugee who
comes to America with less than nothing and becomes one of the
most highly respected and feared drug lords in Miami. Writer Oliver
Stone (Platoon, Wall Street, Born on the 4th of July, JFK, Natural
Born Killers, Talk Radio) and director Brian De Palma (Carlito's
Way, Carrie) make an explosive combination here. Pacino is dynamite
as the uneducated thug, whose oddly calculating and ambitious at
the same time. Scarface takes you into a strange world, that is
fun to voyeur, but not one you would ever want to inhabit. If you
enjoyed this movie, check out Carlito's Way. -Review by Aaron Caldwell
